Business Situation

Lockheed Martin needed a team of engineers to perform hardware/firmware design and testing on the F-35 Lightning II helicopter.

Technological Situation

Hardware design and sensor conditioning was used to create an ideal solution for the helicopter.

Detailed engineering and signal processing were used for evaluating extreme temperature environments that may be experienced.

Lockheed Martin was provided fully tested and validated parts for hardware developments and the test station for IMU/LINS power control module.

F-35 Lightning II Hardware Development

Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that employs approximately 105,000 people worldwide and is principally engaged in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration and sustainment of advanced technology systems, products and services. They solve complex challenges, advance scientific discovery and deliver innovative solutions to help customers keep people safe. Lockheed Martin’s operating units are organized into broad business areas, such as aeronautics, missiles and fire control, rotary and mission systems, and space.

Occam Technology Group was approached by Lockheed Martin to help design the F-35 Lightning II. The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a family of single-seat, single-engine, fifth generation multi-role fighters performing ground attack, reconnaissance, and air defense missions with stealth capability. The F-35 has three main models; the F-35A is a conventional takeoff and landing variant, the F-35B is a short take off and vertical-landing variant, and the F-35C is a carrier-based variant. Occam Technology Group performed Hardware/firmware design and development of analog sensor conditioning and digital signal processing for use in extreme temperature environments. Occam Technology Group provided Hardware/Software design and development of the systems test station for IMU/LINS power control module.
